LOVE'S YOUNG DREAM

As sunlight’s morning glory fills the sky:

Along the bank they saunter hand in hand,

Exchanging pleasantries with passers by,

And relishing the day that they have planned.

To shelter from the sun’s refulgent rays,

They pick a spot beneath a willow tree,

He talks with zeal on past and future days,

She settles down to sandwiches and tea.

Then, side by side in contemplative bliss,

They sit and watch the pleasure boats awhile,

With heightened expectation of her kiss,

He turns from time to time to catch her smile.

When nestled in his arms she hears him sigh,

As shadows form and moonlight grips the sky.
